DHI South Gloucestershire runs an Engagement Team whose staff are responsible for engaging with clients to bring them into our services.
DHI South Gloucestershire takes all the referrals for people with drug and alcohol problems throughout the county. People can refer themselves, or they can be referred by their GPs or by other statutory and voluntary agencies.
Those ringing our main office at Warmley can speak to one of our Triage Support Co-ordinators. Their job is to take all the basic details of the person who is being referred, including which substances they are currently using and any problems they are experiencing. They will also ask if the person is being prescribed medication by their GP and about any other professionals that are involved.
The Triage Assessor will explain what services we have available through DHI and about the other agencies we work with that may be able to offer support. The Assessor and the new service user will decide which service is most suitable for them to be referred to, and the Assessor will offer a date for a full assessment.
