Shared Voices - Reach Out Conference 2013

Reach Out will have a change of venue for the sixth families and carers conference. The event will be held at The Guildhall in Bath on April 11 (evening reception) and April 12.

The theme for the Reach Out conference next year is ‘Shared Voices’. Much of the experience of people affected by someone else’s substance misuse is hidden. This event will give an opportunity for family members and carers to speak up and speak out about their experiences, particularly with others in a similar situation together with the professionals who provide their services.

DHI is very pleased to have been involved in ‘Between a Rock and a Hard Place’. The report was the result of a Department of Health-funded project conducted jointly by Adfam and AVA (Against Violence and Abuse). Previous research commissioned by Adfam and AVA found that the problem of child to parent violence (CPV) was under-recognised and under-supported by services.

We are therefore pleased to have as our Keynote Speaker Davinia James–Hanman, Director of AVA who will talk about how this report has given a greater insight into the lives of parents living with abuse and violence from their children.
