The Bath Thrifty Cookery Book
The Bath Thrifty Cookery Book represents a fascinating collaboration resulting in an enticing recipe collection with broad appeal to everybody from those who claim to be unable to boil an egg to wannabe Michelin star holders. The book is the response to suggestions made by DHI clients (see below for further information) and incorporates 30 recipes from the charity’s service users, staff, a local food writer and head chefs at restaurants featured on the Bath-specific foodie website www.ThePigGuide.com (including Michelin-starred Bath Priory chef Michael Caines MBE, Gideon Hitchin from Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage Canteen and Jamie Oliver’s mentor Genarro Contaldo). None of the ingredients in any of the recipes exceed a fiver, and they’ve all been tested and approved at a series of DHI magazine ‘Off The Wall’ cook-a-thons, the results of which you’ll find on the photographs that illustrate the book throughout. Recipes from DHI service users include Regan Moyle’s Rehashed Jackets, Steve Woods Misshapen Bacon Risotto and Bridget’s Peachoffee Pie.
