About the Volunteering Opportunity

We run a busy and exciting service in BANES that supports people who use drugs and alcohol.

We are looking for a wide range of volunteers to join and support our service by:

  • Greeting and supporting clients
  • Supporting our Needle Exchange
  • Learning how to have effective conversations with clients
  • Learning how to give harm reduction advice
  • Learning how to signpost clients to meet their other needs

You will also receive travel expenses and lunch paid on any of your volunteering days!

(This is an ideal role for someone who is interested in gaining experience in offering information, help and guidance to people who use drugs and supporting them with a non-judgemental, positive and empathetic approach.)


Please note that you will need to commit to a training program of 1 day a week for five weeks during the month of October.

Full induction is given and travel expenses are available.

Greeting clients, supporting needle exchange, learning how to have effective conversations with clients and learning how to give harm reduction advice, supporting the wider team.

Needle Exchange skills

Experience of community health and social care setting

Understanding of deliver brief interventions

Understanding of signposting

Training and understanding of evidence based approaches to support behaviour change

We particularly encourage applicants from LGBTQ+ candidates and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates.
