Housing and support

Private Rented Access Scheme

Money for a deposit and/or rent in advance is usually necessary to move into a private rented property. DHI run a scheme which lends homeless clients the money to start a new tenancy. Loans are repaid at an affordable rate and within a reasonable timescale. Floating support workers also offer support and advice during those crucial first months setting up home, for example helping clients to claim Housing Benefit.

Supported Housing

In partnership with Somer Community Housing Trust and Knightstone Housing, DHI run two supported housing projects in the centre of Bath.  DHI also runs supported houses in both Trowbridge and Frome. These shared "dry" houses provide a safe and supportive environment for clients whose lives have been disrupted through problematic substance use who are now committed to an abstinent lifestyle. Residents have their own room with shared facilities.
