Reach Service

DHI staff DHI staff

The Reach Floating Support Service provides a combination of practical and emotional support to help people live independently and develop useful life skills.

It is run jointly by DHI, and Stonham and Shape. (these links open a new browser window).

The support it offers includes advice on housing, benefits, and managing debts; it can also refer clients to other specialist agencies.

It can help people to:

• Find suitable housing
• Maintain their current housing
• Understand their housing rights and responsibilities
• Deal with rent or mortgage arrears
• Budget effectively
• Access employment, training and educational courses or services
• Set up a new home

As part of the Reach service, staff carry out an outreach service in which they go round the streets of Bath at night to offer advice to people sleeping rough or having problems with their housing. They also go to a day centre and night shelter.

The Reach service is based in Bath and also at DHI's hub in Midsomer Norton. It is planned to run the service from Keynsham and Chew Magna soon.
