Alcohol Awareness Week

DHI is supporting Alcohol Awareness Week which this year explores the theme of Alcohol and relationships.

Alcohol Awareness Week is a chance for the UK to get thinking about drinking and is week of awareness-raising, campaigning for change and more. Alcohol Awareness Week takes place from 15-21 November 2021.

Young people can get straight-talking advice about alcohol directly from our new self-help tool, The Wrap: www.thewrapdhi.org.uk

DHI have a number of events lined up during Alcohol Awareness Week. Come and see us at the following locations:

Bath

Where: 14 St. James's Parade, Bath, BA1 1UL

Our St James’s Parade reception is open 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday to Friday, and we welcome anyone that would like to talk to someone about their alcohol use. Simply pop in during Alcohol Awareness Week and for a free and confidential chat. Whether you’d like to cut down your drinking, take a short break, or quit for good – we can help you get started to achieve your aims.

Bristol

Where: BRI Bristol Royal Infirmary, Upper Maudlin St, Bristol BS2 8HW, Monday 15 and Friday 19 November, 10:00am-3:00pm

DHI will be hosting a stand at the entrance of the Bristol Royal Infirmary with A&E Alcohol nurses and BSDAS student nurses offering advice and information on alcohol units and cutting down safely tips. DHI peers will be on hand to talk about their own personal experiences and our FAM team will be available to talk to family members and carers and introduce WebFAM. DHI staff will be on hand to talk about treatment pathways and other support options.

There will be fake drinks to estimate units and measures, and visitors can have a go at creating accurate unit measurements and livers on show at different stages of health.

University of the West of England

Our Spaced service will be hosting two events for UWE students and staff during Alcohol Awareness Week.

Where: Frenchay Campus, Coldharbour Ln, Bristol BS16 1QY, Wednesday 17 November, 6:00pm – 8:00pm

Where: Glenside Campus, Blackberry Hill, Stapleton, Bristol BS16 1DD, Friday 19 November, 12:00pm – 3:00pm

There will be mocktail making, interactive games using beer goggles, free pouring activities, as well as freebies including unit cups, scratch cards and anti-spiking tools.
