Report: Peer Support in Bristol 2022/23

Peers at DHI use their lived experience to help others

“DHI gave me my life back. They have taught me how to use my lived experience to help others get theirs back.” – Megan, DHI Peer

A peer is an individual who draws upon their personal journey to assist others navigating similar situations. In our context, our peers are individuals in recovery from problematic drug or alcohol use, offering diverse support services, ranging from aiding those in detox to providing companionship. Peers play a crucial role across various aspects of our work.

Peers who work with Bristol ROADS and DHI have gone on to turn their lives around, finding paid employment, returning to education and helping others through their lived experience.

This report showcased the invaluable difference peers make in Bristol and beyond. It features case studies from Mark and Aimee who work at the Bristol Hub, as well as statistics on the program.
