Salary: £26,988 - £30,102 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: Full time
Location: Kingswood, Bristol
Contract Type: Permanent
DHI is recruiting a full-time Support Worker for our Bristol Move On Service. The service supports people leaving Bristol’s Homeless Pathway by offering a two-year placement in their own self-contained flat, helping them build the skills and confidence to manage a tenancy independently.
Residents within the service have a range of support needs, from substance misuse, mental health difficulties and relationship struggles to problems finding employment and managing their finances. You would be offering regular support sessions with the residents, where together you work on a proactive support plan to move towards any goals they may have. You would also be expected to signpost residents to other services which may ease their journey towards independence and be involved in multi-agency working.
We are looking for someone who can bring creativity and enthusiasm to a team that works hard to support each other, and to deliver an exceptional service to our residents and supporting partners. You would need to be prepared and keen to work in a varied and demanding environment, whilst having flexibility in approach to how you support the residents. It is also important that you have an awareness of safeguarding processes and keep the wellbeing of the residents at the forefront of the work you do.
About You
At DHI we highly value transferable skills and life experience. If you have good organisational skills, can manage relationships, solve problems, and are resilient, adaptable and flexible then we would love to hear from you.
Your background could be from anywhere where you have needed to apply problem solving and motivational skills. Teaching, ex-armed forces, customer service are all examples of just some professions where we believe these transferable skills are often found, or you may have lived experience.
Our Values
We are an award winning charity that challenges social exclusion by supporting people to achieve their potential and our values underpin this.
If you share DHI’s values of flexibility, stimulation, self- direction and zest for life, then we encourage you to apply.
We look forward to exploring these with you during the interview process should you be successful at the shortlisting stage.
What We Offer
Training to help you to do your job well, and a friendly and supportive workplace with a track record for promoting high performing staff.
Weekly Team Meetings with your Team Lead, where you can discuss your caseload and any concerns you may have, whilst having an opportunity to think creatively and get to know your colleagues over lunch!
