Local charity seeks new volunteers

Looking to gain skills and experience in the health and social care sector? Leading South West charity Developing Health and Independence (DHI) is looking for new volunteers to support its treatment services in Midsomer Norton.

DHI offer the chance for volunteers to support its work in a faced-paced environment, as you develop the expertise required to have effective conversations with people who use drugs and alcohol.

You will go through a thorough training program with continual 1:1 guidance and support.

We are looking for volunteers to support our service by:

  • Meeting and greeting clients
  • Providing information and advice
  • Supporting our needle exchange programme, Naloxone distribution and blood borne virus testing
  • Supporting our drop-in services

Many of our volunteers go on to become paid members of staff, enjoying a fulfilling and rewarding career in the health and social care field. You will also receive travel expenses and lunch paid on any of your volunteering days.

Please note that you will need to commit to a training program of one day a week for five weeks in March 2022.

We particularly encourage applicants from LGBTQ+ candidates and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates.

Apply now by completing an application form at: www.dhi-online.org.uk/about-us/jobs/project-volunteer-banes

Deadline for applications is February 4th, 2022. Please submit your completed application to: Volunteers@dhi-online.org.uk
